Dhaka city mayors get minister status

The government on Tuesday upgraded the status of the two city mayors of Dhaka South and North city corporations with giving them the status equivalent to full-fledged ministers.
According to a circular issued on the President’s instruction and signed by the Cabinet Committee Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam, Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon and Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq will get the status of the cabinet ministers, reports BSS.
Narayanganj City Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy has also been given the status of a Deputy Minister by the government.
Earlier, the two Dhaka city mayors were given the status equivalent to state ministers.
