Soybean oil price increases by Tk 7 per litre

Hardship of the consumers is being intensified further as bottled soybean oil prices have been increased to Tk160 a litre on Tuesday, marking a Tk 7 a litre hike.
The price of a 5-litre bottled soyabean oil has been fixed at Tk 760, which was Tk 728 earlier.
Besides, the non-bottled soybean oil will be sold at Tk 136 per litre and palm super oil at Tk 118 from now on.
Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association on Tuesday announced the price hike of soyabean oil in line with its prices in the international market.
According to the association, the new prices will be effective as soon as possible. However, the new rates will not be effective for the old stock of soyabean oil kept at distributor and retailer levels.
The new price has been fixed after discussing with Ministry of Commerce and Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission as the prices of crude soyabean and crude palm oil increased in the global market, the association said.
Earlier on Sunday, the Ministry of Commerce gave its consent to raise the prices of soyabean and palm oils following a proposal submitted by the association.
