Indefinite petrol pump strike in 3 divisions from Sunday
Bangladesh Petrol Pump and Tank Lorry Malik-Sramik Oikya Parishad called an indefinite strike from Sunday in Rajshahi, Rangpur and Khulna divisions to press home their 15- point demand.
Sale and transportation of fuel from around 2,000 petrol pumps in the three divisions will remain shut from Sunday, said Bangladesh Petrol Pump Owners’ Association’s Senior Vice-President MA Momin Dulal, reports UNB.
Power, Energy and Mineral Resources secretary called a meeting with the association’s leaders on December 15 which they have rejected, said Dulal. “The strike will continue until our demands are met,” he added.
Earlier on November 26, the association’s leaders gave an ultimatum until November 30 to fulfill their 15-point demand.
Their demands include payment of 7.5 percent commission for selling fuel, introduction of accident insurance of Tk 5 lakh for Tank Lorry workers, increasing fare of Tank Lorry and an end to police harassment.
