HC upholds death for 6 :Ahsanullah murder case
The High Court on Wednesday upheld the penalty of six people in the case filed over assassinating Awami League lawmaker Ahsanullah Master in Tongi in May 2004. The six are Nurul Islam Sarkjer, Nurul Islam Dipu, Mahbubur Rahman, Shahidul Islam Situ, Hafiz alias Kana Hafiz and Sohag alias Suruj. On May 7 in 2004, gunmen shot and killed Ahsanullah, also the president of Jatiya Sramik League, and Omar Faruq Ratan, a young man, and wounded 17 others during a conference of Awami Shechchhasebak League near the lawmaker’s house in Tongi.
