Some unidentified miscreants set afire to an election camp of the Awami League rebel chairman candidate of Outshahi union in Tongibari upazila of Munshiganj district early Thursday.

Officer-in-charge of Tongibari Police Station Alamgir Hossain said some miscreants torched the election camp of AL rebel chairman aspirant Jahirul Hoque Liton at Chander Bazar in the upazila around 12:30am.

On the other hand, another group of miscreants set fire to an arch erected in front of the house of AL-blessed chairman candidate Sikandar Bapari at the same time.

The two parties are blaming each other for the incidents, said the OC.

An adequate number of policemen have been deployed in the area to fend off any further trouble, the OC added.
