President for more UK investment in BangladeshPresident Md Abdul Hamid on Wednesday urged the UK residents and Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRB) to invest more here in different sectors, including trade and commerce.

"Try to uphold the image of the country through highlighting the possibilities of country's overall development trend specially in business sector," the president made the call while a-five-member delegation of Labour Friends of Bangladesh (LEB) called on him at Bangabhaban this afternoon.

President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin later briefed reporters after the meeting.

Welcoming the delegation, President Hamid expressed his satisfaction with the regular visits of Labour Friends of Bangladesh who work as bridge between Bangladesh and the UK government and the people of the two countries.

He also called upon the non-resident Bangladeshis (NBR) to work as 'goodwill ambassadors' to uphold the image of the country abroad.

The UK delegation lauded different development activities of the incumbent government in leading the country towards a tremendous development gradually.

They stressed the need for technology transfer between the two countries to ensure a sustainable development.

The UK delegation led by Shadow Minister for Home Affairs Dr Rupa Huq, MP, called on the President. The other members were: former councilor Khalil Kazi OBE, Chief Executive at London Tea Exchange Sheikh Aliur Rahman, Specialist Eye Consultant Dr Shah Md Rezaul Karim and representative of foreign ministry Ms Abida Islam.
