PM pays tributes to Bangabandhu at his Tungipara mausoleum

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara marking the 41th National Mourning Day and martyrdom day of the great leader.

 The premier paid the homage by placing wreaths at the mazar of Bangabandhu today morning.

 After placing the wreaths, she stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of the Father of the Nation as the bugle played the last post.

Accompanied by her younger sister Sheikh Rehana, the Prime Minister then offered prayer at his mazar seeking eternal peace of departed souls of Bangabandhu, Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib and other martyrs of August 15, 1975 massacre.

A smartly turned out contingent drawn from Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force gave an honour guard on the occasion.

Sheikh Hasina offered Fateha and joined a munajat seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu as well as other martyrs of the August 15 carnage.

On this day in 1975, Bangabandhu and most of his family members were killed in this house by a cabal of army officers as part of a long-running conspiracy by anti-liberation forces.

The day is officially observed as the National Mourning Day.

 Flanked by senior leaders of the party, Sheikh Hasina, also the Awami League president, placed another wreath at the mazar of Bangabandhu on behalf of AL.

 Later, leaders of different associate bodies of Awami League placed wreaths at the mazar.

 The Prime Minister, cabinet members, party leaders and workers joined a milad and doa mahfil on the mazar premises marking the National Mourning Day.
