A Dhaka court on Wednesday put Mahfuzur Rashid Ferdous, a teacher of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), on a 2-day remand in a case filed over sexually harassing two female students of the university.

The court also rejected a bail petition submitted by Mahfuzur’s lawyer.

Ferdous is an Associate Professor of the university's Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) held from a flat in the capital's Ramna area on Wednesday early morning.

Earlier, the university authority sacked Ferdous on Saturday in the face of protest from the students demanding the justice.

Allegedly, Ferdous harassed various female students from the department on several times.
